For those of you that are NOT privlaged enough to live in Scotland, how did you first become interested?
With me, it first started when I was 16. I was doing a class project, finding out my roots for a report. I learned that I was Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. I became obsessed with Scotland during my studies, and still am. I love the colorful history and the passion and pride of the people. My family was apparently lowlanders though, and reivers.
What about everyone else?

With me it started with Glasgow Celtic Football Club, then was cemented by various visits and holidays in Scotland ;D

Well my mother's friend, was deeply involved in finding her roots, and my mother joined in. We found that we both had roots in Scotland. I was around 8 or 9 at the time, and we started to go to different places we could learn about our history. I'm still learning about it even now. It's very interesting, and I plan to learn a lot more about it.

I'm one of those lucky ones then. Even though I am Scottish, I'm very proud of my heritage. =D
