Education Secretary Mike Russell has made history by giving a speech to the European Council in Gaelic.
He was addressing members of the Education Youth and Culture Council during a meeting in Brussels.
The short speech is the first to be given to such a meeting in Gaelic, which has been recognised as a co-official language in the EU.
Mr Russell told the council members the language is an "important part" of Scotland's culture.
